I
don't know what the story is on tickets, but I can find out when I go
home for break (if not sooner). The venue is the Coliseo
Roberto
Clemente in Hato Rey (a section of San
Juan -- generally the business
district, but the Coliseo is not in the heart of it.). It's a smallish
arena. I think it seats somewhere in the
neighborhood of 10,000, but I
could be wrong
(could be somewhat less?). It's not
a new building. The
gymnastics competition at Pan Am Games in 1979 was held
there. The Copa
Puerto Rico
gymnastics meet was held there in 1994, and I assume it was
there this year as well.

Re: Gymnast's Parents
Actually, even though they never profile the
parents with the gymnast, they
do sometimes show
the parents in the stands. At Nationals this year, they
showed
the Moceanu's in the stands and talked about how
Dom's little sister
is also a gymnast.

Stephanie Willim
Some of you may remember
Stephanie Willim, the extremely talented
American
who had to retire in the late 1970s--just as her star was
rising--due to a back problem. I remember hearing that she had a
full
twisting somi *on*
the beam, and was standing up triple fulls on
floor in practice--all this around 1977, at about the age of
11.
Does anyone know if she ever competed that full twist on the beam?
I
have a vague recollection that I saw her do it in a meet, maybe a
Capital
Cup, but I think my memory is just playing tricks on me. I
know she
went on to diving at George Washington U--any news since?

TBS, Thursday
Does the person who posted the "TV Alert" for
Thursday know what the
entire show is about? Is it just gymnastics, something else
with just
Mary Lou, or what?
Thanks a bunch! %:-)

Alabama recruits
For those interested, the Univ. of Alabama has letter
of intents from
Rachel Rochelli of Cypress Academy
and Heidi Harriman of Peachtree
City, GA. This was during the early signing
period. Heidi competed
at the U.S. Classic but I think was injured at Nationals and
I think
everyone pretty much knows Rachel.

Question re: FAQ post
Who do we direct comments/questions regarding
the FAQ posting from a few days
ago? Computer genius that I am, I deleted the
message before I saw who wrote
it, and I know of
two possible corrections I'd like to check on with the
author.

Re: your mail
Didn't Jenny Hansen compete as level 10? I remember seeing her name in
an old IG. Can't
remember the gym. She has competed
in one of the us
meets
back then, but I don't think she placed high. If you have IG's
from
90 or 91 you might see this. I
don't have them at school, so I
can't look it
up.

TBS Show

The TBS show is not just about gymnastics...it's more of a
sports anthology
profiling various athletes
throughout history. I saw the first
2 parts, and,
being a sports enthusiast, I have
very much enjoyed it...although it seems to
be a
bit disorganized! Tommorrow's night's epidode is
supposed to focus on
the impact that money and the
possibility of tremendous financial gain has
had
on the sports world. The personal
profiles have been quite detailed, so
I expect that there will be at least
15-20 minutes on Mary Lou tomorrow.
For those who are interested, TBS
is replaying all 3 parts on Sat. afternoon.
I don't have have
the exact times right now, but if anyone would like to
know,
just e-mail me! :)

TBS Show - HELP!

>know, just e-mail me! :)
Well,
I just looked at the TV Guide, and these begin at 12:05 EST.
Alas,
we're about to leave for 10 days in California. Although I haven't
had time to make the "VCR Recording List," I don't
think we can afford to
use up 6 hrs. Would someone be kind enough to copy a
tape for us?>
Of
course, we'd be happy to pay all
associated costs.
If you can help, please contact us directly by one
of these methods:
1. Here at <htr or ksr>@cykick.eclipse.net - until about 5 a.m. Friday
morning, Dec. 1 (we have an EARLY flight) Or wait until after Dec. 10 for
a response.
2. Or, contact me on AOL at HelenaTR@aol.com I
should be able to access
AOL and CompuServe while we're away. (Yes, we're taking the laptops with
us - might as well take advantage of a hotel with dataports.)
Thanks in advance!

Ken
