Bill
- I never got into a discussion about coaches, or giving private
lessons... I was discussing gym owners - only gym owners -
and nothing but
gym owners.
Check that

Sheremeta's music was also used by Jennie Thompson, at 1992 USA
Championships.
This was when she was at Karolyi's. She tumbled a
full in, 2
whips to a double twist, and a double
back to finish. It was a cute routine,
but Sheremeta's dance was better. Oh well, Jennie was only 10
at the time!!!!
Bye!!!

Isn't the bird music first used by
Oksana Omelianchik in 1985 world?
I
believed she won the floor and AA that year with that music. Can
anyone
confirm this?

Re: Nadia Movie
The movie is simply titled "Nadia" and I
have a copy of it if anyone is
interested. My mom taped it off of the tv when I was 6 (i think) (I have
never seen it
in any video store) I think it is
really good in the way it
portrays how Nadia
didn't have everything so easy and her transition from
expecting
to win to wanting to train to win.
It also shows her friendship
with Teadora (sp?). It is definately
a movie as opposed to a biography.
Does anyone know where I can get
"Little Miss Perfect"?
Can I just rent it
from the video
store?
Thanks
Vicki.

Women's NCAA
Who were the top finishers in the AA? I read somewhere, perhaps the local
paper, that Leah Homma won, but I have not seen anything
official. Does
someone know?
Patrick? Rachel?
Thanks.

The short answer is
that Meredith Willard of Alabama was the winner. Leah
Homma's accomplishment was
that, after a rough beam set in team prelims,
which
determines the AA winner, she had the highest AA score of the
competition in the team finals at 39.750. It didn't have an impact on her
individual placing, but it was a very important contribution
to the UCLA's
second-place team effort.

results are available at:

I
hope to have a wrap-up issue of the Collegiate Update ready later today
with all of the results for both men and women. It all depends how fast I
can type (or edit from earlier reports) during my lunch
break.

Sazonekova's FX music
Yes, Sazonekova used the same "chirpy FX music" at the
1989 USA/USSR dual meet
(the first gymnastics meet
I ever really watched on t.v. BTW). She also used
it
at Worlds that year.

Re: Dina Kotchekova / Liu's Bar
WOW!!!!!
What a long routine. What do you mean 'sole circle half turn'?
Helen.
---------------Original
Message---------------
This
is what Liu Xuan did in her UB routine. Straight body vault
mount over LB catch HB; kip cast HS; giant-full;giant-full
to one-arm
giant, one-arm Gienger;
shoot to sole cirlcle half turn glide on LB; kip
cast HS; free-hip to release straddle up to HB (what is the
value of this
btw and is it named after Lu Li in
the code?); kip cast HS; giant imm.
blind turn, front giant imm.pirouette,
Tkatchev; kip cast HS; giant,
double
layout dismount.
Now
if the giant full (even only one of them) got a D credit,
this should have a 10 SV even in compIII,
correct? I hope someone can
help. From watching
Liu's bar routine from previous meets (and live at
the
Subway meet last year) I'd say that her giant full is almost always
right on top of the bar, one of the best I've seen. I'd like to get an
opinion from an actual judge who will have a much better
idea than I do.
Thanks in advance.
Chris.

leaving list for the summer :-(
I'm sorry to say that I will be absent
from the gymn forum during the
summer. I'm going home for the summer and will
be without computer
access, which I'm going to
hate since the Olympics are coming up (and the
trials). So, unless a miracle happens (I somehow
can afford to buy a
computer), I'll be gone until
the fall. I have really enjoyed
this list
and I have learned a lot from it. So, keep up the good work and I'll
talk to you all when I come back to school.
Gymnastically
Yours,
Aaron

Faye, could you please forward this message to
the gymn-forum?
Thanks.
Hello all,
I
was just on the phone with the Olympics ticket sales (404) 744-1996 to
order tickets for artistic gymnastics.
Here's the
basic scoop at present:
Tickets for all the women's events are sold out.
However, it looks like
tickets are still available
on the first-level only for the men's events.
Also,
tickets
are still available for the podium training and final exhibition.
I
was able to get through to the ticket sales surprisingly easily. The big
drag was all the option choices that I had to make before I
could get to a
live customer service rep.
If
you do order tickets, be aware that VISA credit card is the ONLY
accepted means of payment. This really stinks! Also, there
is a $10
processing fee and a $1 per ticket
surcharge.
The customer service rep told me that tickets are scheduled
to begin
coming out in the end of May and early
June. And, you won't know your
seat assignment
until you receive the tickets. Tickets are being sent via
UPS and must be
signed for.
You can call for tickets between 9 am and 6 pm Eastern
time.
Also, I think these ticket sales apply to US citizens only.

watch.
-McCall
went on to be co-Champ on rings at NCAA's.
-William & Mary had 4 of top
8 AA spots for Varsity.
-UCLA also looked good.
-Judging seemed harder
than normal for a collegiate level meet.
-Some high quality gymnastics for
division II-like gymnastics (there are
scholarship
requirements: 2 or less out of state full-rides for varsity).
Many club
teams had outstanding programs in the past, but fell victim to
university cut-backs.
-Anyone with further notes, please
post.
