In the Eastern time zone, this Saturday's NBC broadcast of the Atlanta
Invitational from 1:30-3:30pm does overlap with the CBC broadcast of the
Subway World Gymnastics Challenge from 3:00-5:00pm.  I've got 2 VCR's
going.  Lucky me?  There's also figure skating on CBS (as usual) to worry
about. Busy afternoon with my corporate Xmas party that evening too.  %^}

For those who've asked, GCG (CGF) did not do their own video for Subway because
CBC has the rights.  I'll ask if they'll get all the unedited CBC tapes, though.

Grace

        Hello from Montreal!

We are very happy that this act interests you... I'll forward them
your mail.

Paulo and Marco Lorador have been working on our production
SALTIMBANCO since 1992.

An act worthy of the entertainers that graced the fairs of old, the
hand to hand performance of the Marco and Paulo Lorador brothers includes a
staggering sequence of acrobatic movements. They are professional performers
since 1978.

They have performed internationaly for many years. Festival
International du Cirque de Demain in Paris (First Price), Monte Carlo
Festival, Circo Moira Orfei (Italy), Tivoli (Danmark), Budapest State Circus
(Hungary), Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey & Big Apple Circus (USA),
etc.

We are working a lot with former gymnasts. For example, in our
production ALEGRIA, actually in Atlanta, we have a whole act of Aerial Bars
with former russian gymnasts. Also, in MYSTERE, our permanent show at
Treasure Island in Las Vegas, we have hired for example Terry Bartlett and
Justin Osbourne formely from Gymnastic.

We are currently working on an Official Home Page for Cirque du
Soleil and I'll send to the list our URL as soon as we will be on-line. This
site will contain a lot of interesting information about our Artists,
Productions, Tour dates, Companies etc.

Thank you for your interest in Cirque du Soleil works,

Hello, fellow Gymners...
I recently purchased my University of Missouri season tickets, and I
was pleasantly made aware of the fact that Shannon Miller, (a native
Missourian, born in Rolla, MO.) would be appearing as a special host to the
16th Cat Classic, held February 2-3 in Columbia, MO.. I think this is
really cool to have her here on those days only months from the Olympics.
I do not know whether or not she will perform, but nevertheless, it will
be a great time.
If anyone has any questions, about the event, feel free to email me at:

 Hi,

There are 7 events in Acrogymnastics between groups and tumbling

 Groups:
        Women pairs.
        Men pairs.
        Mixed pairs.
        Women trio.
        Men Four.
 Tumbling:
        Women tumbling.
        Men tumbling.

 GROUPS
In the international championships, groups have to do 3 exercises,
Balance (static elements such as handstands)
Tempo ( Dinamic elements such as somersaults)
        combined (static and dinamic elements)

The best six in the two first exercises going to the finals off that
exercise.  The "champion" of each event is the one with higher average
of the three exercises.

 TUMBLING
In the international championships, tumblers have to do 3 series,
Somersault serie (simple somersaults without any twist)
Twist serie ( Twist series withg, at least, 360 degrees twist)
Combined (Simple somersaults and twist somersaults)

The best six in the two first series going to the finals off that
serie. The "champion" of each event is the one with higher average
of the three series.

I hope this is a helpfull information

 Greetings from Portugal

I just got my December issue of IG yesterday, it is very nice.  The
pictures were really good.  The only thing I didn't like, was that the 3
main features on the Worlds seemed repetitive.  They each talked about
the same things pretty much.  The poster of Mo Huilan is really nice too.
I already have it hanging up in my dorm room.

I was looking through the list of back issues and spotted an issue that
had an article about Thompson/Moceanu.  I was wondering if someone who
was familiar with that issue, could give me some information about that
article.  I am going to check at my school's library to see what back
issues they have, but there is no telling when I will get the chance.
Thanks in advance!

Subject: 1996 Worlds

How are the World Championships set up for 1996.  Is there a team
championship along with the AA and the individual events.  If there are
team competitions, are all of the countries involved, just like the other
World Championships?  I know that the top 12 teams from the 95 Worlds go
to the 96 Olympics, so I am a little disoriented about the team situation
for the 96 Worlds.  Thanks-a-million!

The 1996 World Championships will only consist of Individual Event Finals,
just like the 1992 Paris Worlds.  I'm assuming there will be a prelim, semi-
final, and final (medal round) like they had in '92.

Subject: future stars

Does anyone know some names of some "future stars" of the women's
artistic gymnastics world?  Currently, form what I have read and heard,
there are several names that I am curious about.  Girls like Alexis
Brion, Mina Kim, Andree Pickens, Vanessa Atler, Jaimie Danztscher,
Katie Teft...who are the future "big names" in your opinions?  Or are there
 others who I
haven't mentioned?  If possible, could you give me some information on
the girls you know about (i.e. where they are from, where they train,
what they have won, what they're most noted for, etc.).  Also, how long
has Heather Brink "been around"?  Isn't she about the age where she is
most likely not going to be around to be on an Olympic team?  If I am
being confusing, please let me know...Thanks again!

I was just watching my tape of the 1995 NCAA Women's Championships, Jenny
Hansen of Kentucky never ceases to amaze me! She has so much power and is
so consistent. I was just wondering where she was from, what gym she went
to, etc. Did she ever compete for the USA at the elite level? I also
think that it is great that we are getting to see some great talent from
other colleges and not necessarily the top 3 or 4 schools. She is a great
gymnastics inspiration to many people.

Thanks,
Jennifer

Subject: New Publication (Normile/Langsley)

Following is a fax I've received about a gymnastics book to be
released by the FIG in the spring of 96. It sounds very promising, no
doubt a collector's item; I anticipate that the quality will be
superb, as Eileen Langsley (gymnastics photog extraordinaire) and
Dwight Normile (IG editor) both have a hand in it.  At any rate,
there's still plenty of time to order this book; actually, I don't yet
have all of the order information for it.  But you can read about what
to expect, and if it appeals to you, then you can write to the FIG
(address below) for more information.  As I learn more information,
I'll pass it on.

New Publication

'Gymnastics - The Art of Sport' is a new and unique book which will be
published by the Federation Internationale de Gymnastique in the
spring of 1996.

It will be a full colour publication (9" x 11.75") of 208 pages and
will include more than 300 photographs, many previously
unpublished. The book features the work of FIG official photographer
Eileen Langsley and contains action images of top international stars
taken over a twenty year period. Design consultant to the book is
Dwight Normile, Editor and Art Director of International Gymnast
Magazine.

The book is a photographic tribute to the beautiful sport of
Gymnastics (Artistic and Rhythmic) and it is unique in that it
geatures the thoughts of gymnasts, coaches, and officials from all
over the world, giving insight into their hopes, beliefs and
motivation.

The book will be available from the FIG in Switzerland at a cost of 40
Swiss Francs plus postage. It will also be on sale at Kodak retail
outlets at the Olympic Games in Atlanta. Later in the year, copies
will be available through National Gymnastics Federations.

For further details contact Laurent Joliat at the FIG-

Do not delay in ordering your own copy of this book. Numbers are
limited and it is expected to sell out quickly, becoming a popular
collector's item and a treasured souvenir for those who love
gymnastics.
