Front tumbling in the past:
I don't know if 1989 can be considered the past, but Kristen Kenoyer (US)
was doing front tumbling while she was still an elite, and the NCAA's
seemed to have a fair amount of it, as well. Having not gotten fanatical
about the sport until 1988, I don't know too much before that.

Carol Johnson:
Our school's library has a biography on her, in the children's non-fic
section. I've leafed through it, and it seems pretty complete. If anyone
would like the title and author, I can get it.

My daughter is a level ten who is about to go to Elite. Her schedule (and her
families) sounds a lot like your daughters and every other high level gymnast
at our club in Sacramento. Its been my experience that because of the rigors
of the sport many kids that would be susceptible to eating disorders do not
make it to the top. I'm a psychiatrist. I've seen many a child and adult
with an eating disorder. Because of the population that gymnasts are from a
certain percentage of them may well develop these disorders. They're very
common in American society in this population. I'm not convinced that these
disorders are found in any higher percentage than any other sport with
similar aged girls. In fact I'm not convinced its any higher for any age
matched group outside of athletics. Good luck to your daughter. Saludos.

Subject: Nude Gymnastics comp!!

I was reading a newspaper the other day, and they had a small article
about an ad placed in a UK magazine about a nude gymnastics
competition!!! It is called Gymnastikos and "it features nude
performances by five world ranked male gymnasts aged between 18-24. The
Athletes come from interational gymnastics teams and are among the best
in the world" Apparently they compete on all six apparatus and the
competition is aimed at gay men. Apparently, the ad deatures photographs
of all five gymnasts peforming.
The magazine it featured in is called GAY TIMES either Sep or Oct
issue im not sure which. My guess is they are cash-strapped ex soviet
state gymnasts looking for some money from all the hard work they have
put in. It is a pity they have to get it this way. Still, it would be
great to know who they are if anyone can find out. I am searching but no
success at present.
