A

Atlanta Invite will be televised Saturday,

At least that is what my notes say.

Thought
I would add that I overheard a discussion that they are going to
test putting the scores up on the web as they become
available. That is
their plan for the olympics and
this is the test meet, so any of you with
WWW access, might want to go
on-line and see what happens.

Relocation/coaching info requested
I've finally decided to introduce
myself. I've really enjoyed the variety
of mail
received and am excited to contribute to the list.
I have been a coach
for 9 years. I have taught Level 5 & 6, Highschool,
and
the past 2 years at a recreational
facility. I have really enjoyed
the
recreational program. Althought I
miss the competition, I have found
coaching 18
month old to adults, for fun, much more fullfilling.
We
(husband Jim, daughter Tatiana) are currently looking to relocate out of
southern California.
We are looking for a better environment to raise our
daugher, and a lower cost of
living.
I would appreciate any recommendations/suggestion's any of you
would have
regarding recreational coaching
position's available in your area.
We are
currently looking at all area's in
the western U.S. (I know that's broad
but we're
keeping our options open).
I look forward to hearing from you.
Anna
P.S. I would be willing to go back to coaching competition. However, it
would
have to be a different situation from where I coached before. The
coaching
staff there would use bribe's to get the kid's (pre-team) to work
harder. I
disagreed with that technique!!!

REVISED Trivia Topic: Need
Questions
Okay Gymners, you spoke and I
listened. Obviously, good 'ole Kurt
is a bit
too narrow a topic for a whole trivia
quiz. Let's broaden the topic,
then.
The new topic is:
Non-"Eastern Bloc"
World/Olympic Medalists (M & W)
Go to it,
gang! Send
me questions (with answers) via private e-mail.

Fixing Eating Disorders by USA Gymnastics in USA Today
There is an
article in USA Today about eating disorders and how the
United States
Gymnastics Federation is going to fix the problem
with
outside help. There is a nice
picture of Amanda Borden in there.

hot gossip
Hi All,
I've just been told some interesting news
(gossip?) from a very reliable and
well placed
source. Apparently, at the next Trampolining Worlds
(in B.C.
Canada) a decision will probably be made as to whether to merge Trampolining's
International governing
body, the FIT, with that of Gymnastics, the FIG. If
this does happen it will be highly likely that trampolining will be included
in
the 2000 Olympics (or so my source and a few others believe)!
I think
the term 'remarkable' comes to mind :-)

Help. Acro

Hey everyone. I
think I heard something about the ACRO WORLDS going on.
This is what type
of gym I did for about 4-6 years, most of the people I
trained
with are at these worlds. I would
love to know the results.
PLEASE!!!!!!!!
Thanks, if you can
help.

Need info on Russian Coaches
I am looking for any information on
Victor Dieke and Tamila Endovomoka. They
came to
America last year from Ukraine. I have been told that they coached
Tutiana Gutsu and that she lived
with them for awhile. But when they came to
America that Tatiane left them and went
to Indiana. No one knows why
she
left.
I would like to know if they are good coaches? Are they able to teach
the younger kids basics? How are their attitudes toward their
students?
Thanks for the
info.

Gail Kachura: yes, she is too young for 96
Yup, Gail Kachura is too young for
Atlanta. Can't remember where
I
heard it said, but I've heard it a couple of times; whenever tv
announcers
run down a list of the most promising folks who are
a
year or two out of the running, she's on it.

Gymnast's Parents
We've been watching a lot of figure skating lately,
and I was wondering why
profiles of young skaters
always feature parents so prominently, yet those of
young
gymnasts focus on coaches. Do most
elite gymnasts live away from
family? It seems like the sacrifice of gymnasts'
parents would be huge, yet
we never hear about
them. We also never see cameras
focus on parents in the
stands the way we do in
skating. Any ideas why?
