Hear, hear....
Although I find Kathy Johnsons comments more annoying and less
gymnastically related then some of Conner's.
Monica
PS for someone who didn't post much before I sure have aquired the gift
of gab... sorry :)

Here's my contibution to reducing gymn messages that are not of intrest
to most subscribers.  I will in future, post Australian TV times, event
imformation and local news to the Aussies only.  So PLEASE if the
Australians on gymn can drop me a note with your address, and what you're
interested in (even if you're not interested, just so I know I have all
14 accounted for), I would really appreciate it!

Thanks alot,

Michelle

though we can all say what if, Khorkina has only herself to blame for not
winning AA Gold. If she hit the triple twist (instead of the double) she may
have scored higher.

I think that Pods earned it. She may have had a small form error on bars
and the bobble on beam, but she went for everything in in her bag of tricks
and won fair and square. Perhaps Khorkina may be a better gymnast, but AA
champs are not necessarily won by the best, but by the one who can hit
everything.

As an aside: Anyone else notice that the gymnasts WEIGHTS was NOT shown on
the screen each time they appeared on screen? Maybe someone out there is
reading these posts.

Jeff

P.S. Amanar over Pods. NO way. She's like Gutsu. She's got the big tricks,
but she's boring and lacks flair. Pods got that. And on all events.
Just my opinions.

1) You may not like it but what they say is valid. Lets get real people. They
say wonderful things about great performances, should they be fake and not
remind anyone that Amanar spends 90 hrs a week perfecting tumbling but can't
get across in her choreography? I mean, they pointed out to us that Khorkina,
regardless of how well she dances, gets scored on tumbling.

2) People in the long-distance past have commented that the male commentators
talk during womens and mens and the female commentator only talks during
females. I noticed alot of Kathy's talking during the men's portion of the
telecast.

Jeff

P.S. Anyone notice that Mo and the rest of the chinese women had the
words "Li Ning" written on their leos (over the heart on chest). Is he in
that buisness now? What ever happened to him?

IMHO, this was known as 'constructive criticism' before the days of
politically correct speech.  I didn't think Conner's commentary was too
anything.  Perhaps some people* are too sensitive nowadays?

When I stated that the US team would be the top if they trained together
like other teams, I meant if they ALL trained together.  There are quite
a few top coaches that have girls making up the US team.  Emotions are
going to be different.  The girls aren't necessarily friends or very familiar
with each other.  What I especially liked seeing was girls from different
teams congratulating each other...

Subject: Amanar

Oh I don't know about Amanar not being able to place ahead of the
PODmeister.  She did it at this year's European Cup.  Of course that is
probably one of those weird unjustified results that those darned
Romanians are so famous for :P.

On to the more substantial reason for my post.  The vaults done by Khokie
and Pods... will they be named after them?  Is it considered a form error
on Mo's Gaylord when she bangs her knees on the regrasp?  What about that
awesome double front with half turn the Pod did... is she the first and
does she get it named after her?

Subject: misunderstandings

Dear Fellow Gymners,
There seems to be a lot of misunderstandings and
misinterpretations going on.  When i first read the response from Monica
in regards to the Romaniana, I was offended and upset.  I wrote her
asking about the incident....needless to say, we got "viscious" with each
other and we said a lot of somewhat harsh things to each other.  After
countless replies to each other, we got ourselves under control.  We
were able to finally be civil, and wouldn't you know we see eye to eye (?).
On some things at least...Anyway, i understand where she was coming from.
Some of the replies did seem a little harsh, but only the "author" can control
that.  I feel that maybe befor any of us "jump" the gun, like I did to Monica,
we should confront the author first.  Don't use the digest....it really
worked well for monica and I.  I am happy to say I have befriended the
"Mad Romanian" and really enjoy conversing with her.  Hopefully the "fire"
under some gymners bottoms will die down, and we can all be peaceful...

Gymnastically Yours,
Aaron

Hi, I m new here!
My name is Tanja N; age 25; US citizen living in Tianjin, China with my
husband (no aspiring young gymnasts yet!); I work as an accountant.
I competed in gymnastics (Kentuckiana area) from 1979-1984 (just Class III
and IV, no great talent!) and remember those times as the fondest of my
growing up years.  I followed gymnastics closely for a while after that, but
lost track around the time of Bela s Pheobe.  I just recently found out
about this mailing list.
My favorite event to do is beam and to watch, floor.  The little I ve seen
of rhythmic gymnastics has been interesting as well; does the gymn discuss
that too?
My email address is tnelson@fstj.fs.com and it s rather moody; most times I
get the mail sent to me, but sometimes glitches cause it to end up who knows
where.
