IG
I am a non-American IG subscriber. I would say it has a lot of US
info, ut
so does this
list. I mean think of all the collegiate stuff on here. I know
most of you are from the US, but don't you think the case is
the same with
IG. I read IG because I love gymnastics, the same reason I'm
on this list. I
mean, give them a break, it is
very difficult to put together a magazine
that
satisfies all readers, from all countries!

1995 Women's Elite Canada - Final results
To repeat from yesterday, I corrected a
few spelling errors of names from
the official
results. Also, I'm wondering about
the club affiliations of
a few of the girls which
may be incorrect. I didn't bother
proofreading
all the scores but hopefully I didn't
make any errors. Note that in
the
first day of results Jaime Hill was listed as
being from Mississauga, but
she is now with Winstonettes and this was corrected in the official
results.
Again, there were lots of mistakes by everyone, so the
quality of the meet
was obviously not very good,
particularly for the seniors. MacEachern fell
3 times on Day 2 (twice on beam, once
on bars) yet she still won the meet.
(!!) However, it looks like experience paid
off as Exaltacion won Day 2,
with
Lena Degteva in second which moved her up to
8th. Some of the rankings
in junior
were shuffled quite a
bit as well.

I have only 3 issues. The best being Dec of

think we should all send letters about this, or else they

Gymnastics Magazines
Was there a magazine called World Gymnastics (or
Gymnastics World)?
I thought that I saw a copy of it after the Montreal
Worlds with Oksana
on the cover posing on the
beam. Was that any better.

Yes, there was. That was the old FIG magazine
that went under 7 or so years
ago due to lack of
funds. It was far more informative then the new 4 times a
year bulletin format (still great Eileen pictures) but no
real info.

Atlanta Olympics & Dawes in the News
Concerning Olympic tickets,
an AP "Olympic Watch '96" article from last week
says ...
"The mail order phase of Olympic
ticket sales has ended, but some four
million
tickets will be available, by
telephone or in person, beginning in
February. ... there
is a slim chance that some seats may become available for
presently sold-out sessions. An ACOG spokesman explains some
seats at some of
the top events, like track and
gymnastics, were left unfilled as a
contengency
for unseen needs and may be made available by spring."
The
article also mentions that a record 195 of the 197 IOC member nations
have committed to send delegations to the Atlanta Olymics. The only 2
hold-outs
are North Korea and Afghanistan. PRK is the only country that has
outright refused to participate , Afghanistan has simply so
far failed to
respond to all IOC communications.
There is still hope from the IOC, that
both
nations will come making Atlanta the first ever fully attended Olympic
Games.
Lastly
from the news, Dominique Dawes has been awarded a "lifetime
achievment" award (at the ancient
age of 18) as a "Good Sport" from _Sports
Illustrated for Kids_.
The award is given to people "on behalf of the time
and
effort they have devoted to helping children."
Dawes will be
featured in the December issue of the magazine.

Elodie Lussac
Does
anyone know what ever happened to Elodie Lussac from France?
The last I heard was that she had
injured her back at Dortmond last year. I
really hope that she didn't retire because she showed so
much potential.
Thanks,

Re: Dominique Moceanu
I
think she made it because there are judges who prefer physical FX
over more ballet style FX. I think this is very good. There is room for
both
styles in gymnastics.
