brion
Can someone give some background on
Alexis Brion? I noticed that she is a US
delegate to the Subway meet, I thought she was one of the
gymnasts too young
for international
competition? Is there going to be
another US female going to
this meet and is there
any idea as to who she might be?
Also does anyone know
if any major american tv networks are going to
cover this meet?

Preparation for the olympics
questions
Thank you for the answers to my other questions.
I know that
nationals are big meets and so are Olympic trials.
1.What are the gymnasts doing now for the Olympics in the countries
that are sending teams?
I know it may
be earlier but I just wanted to know.
Injury free is a must so
2.In
the competitions that follow will people water down
their rountines or try and do the
difficult skills?
3.
Is there goint to be more training or less training? i.e Is
overuse ever considered?
4.
Does it matter who is the national champion if there
are going to be Olympic trials?
I was
wondering if people who know what happens in their individual country
could
answer.
5.
Is it possible to predict who will make up certain slots on
certian teams.( i.e Romanian Austrailian, French Urkanian
)team.
6. How will countries that will be sending
only
three people each train and select the the
gymnasts?
7.
Many people say that in the new code front tumbling
is encouraged What happened before then?
8.
Has there ever been an all around winner or event winner
in the Olympics
or World Championship that was not part
of a team because the team did not qualify at some pre
qualifying meet?

hillary grivich
I
was looking at some of the back digests of questions and I had seen that
someone was asking what had ahppened
to Hillary Grivich and I was looking
through some diving results and I saw that Hillary had
placed 24th in this
years outdoor national
championships on the three meter. I
know that Phoebe
Mills also turned to diving after gym and I was wondering
if this was a
frequent occurrance? I can see where there are many
similarities betweeen the
sports
but anyway I was just wondering if someone out there could get any more
info on hillary and how she is
doing in diving?

what ever happened to
What ever happened to that girl
who won the U.S. Olympic Festival,
like in '90 or
'91? I'm not positive of her name
but I want to say
it was Shelly Engels or
something like that. She had blonde
hair and
I believe made the cover of U.S.A Gymnastics back then.
Thanks.

Simona Pauca and Laura Cutina
Date sent: 7-NOV-1995 15:52:07
I was
goofing around the other day and checked out the video tapes of
the 1984 Olympics from our school library. Like usual, Laura
Cutina and
Simona Pauca really intrigued me. But...never saw them again. I
know
what happened to Agache
and Szabo, and not that I really care about the
other two, but whatever happened to Cutina
and Pauca? Both were only
about
15, they shoulda been a round for a while...

I believe that Shelly Engle retired awhile ago, myabe 1991 or
something. She
had some sort of horrible back injury and had too.

And along the same lines, what has
become of Eugenia Golea and Camelia
Voinea?
Also, for those of you who have been
fortunate enough to have seen the last two
world
championships in person...what can you tell us about Claudia Presecan?
She has been on the last two Romanian worlds
teams so she MUST be good, but has,
of course, not
been featured in the broadcast coverage.
She's from Bucharest,
so I'm guessing her
style is more like Marinescu's.

While we're on this "Where are They Now" kick, what happened
to
Vanda Hadarean after the Olympics? I know that she competed in the 93
American
Cup, but after that she disappeared.
