Predictions for Worlds 95
Here
I go.
Women Team
1.
Romania
2.
Russia
3.
United States
4.
China
Women AA
1. Khorkina
2. Milosivich
3.
Miller
4.
Mo
Men
Team
1.
China
2.
Germany
3.
Russia
Men
AA
1. Ivankov
2. Nemov
3. Scherbo
** I make these predictions with great
apprehension. The women's team
is
Romania's to lose. The USA is hurt
big time by the injuries and
replacements. Russia should slip by the USA. In the AA, this is just
a
guess. Miller could win again. Milosivich
could finally win the big
AA. This is going to be fun,
and very interesting. I also think
that
Marinescu
and Moceanu will both make a splash like Mo Huilan did at
Brisbane. That's all for know!

Final Aussie team....
West Australian Jenny Smith (5th at Nationals
and 3rd at Trials),
sprained her ankle in
training, and is a late withdrawal from Worlds. So
the
final Aussie womens team is:
Ruth Moniz
Joanna
Hughes
Kirsty-Lee Brown
Lisa Skinner
Lisa
Moro
Nicole Kantek
Genevive
Preston
This has to be a disapointment for
Jenny, who was first at Trials last
year for the
Commonwealth Games, but injured her shin, just days before
the team left.
Interestingly that means that every Aussie womens
reserve
for Worlds and Olympics from 1991 to 1995
has come from the same city
(Perth!)

gym support groups
I am a parent of a 12 year old
level 9 gymnast. I have been
the
president of her club's booster club for 2
years and am currently
the newsletter editor. Our booster club which is comprised of
all of the
parents of team members is very
active. A year ago we did all of
the work
with the two club owners to rennovate a 20,000 sq ft facility for the new gym.
Yes, we did all fo the plumbing, electical and heating - a great group of
parents. The
parents organization has purchased a new floor, tumble track and
is looking at replacing one beam and two bars so we can hold
State Level Meets.
I am looking at networking with any parent
organizations or coaches to get
ideas for things
others have done to help support their gyms. We do a lot of
fund
raising and spend a lot of time in the gym. One thing we get back is that
we keep the cost of being a competitive gymnast withtin the range of most kids
who
want to be on the team.
Please e-mail me directly.
Thanks
Elaine
