Evgenia was born in St. Petersburg on December 18, 1980.  A solid and dependable gymnast, particularly on beam, she was left off the 2000 Russian Olympic team in favor of a younger gymnast.  Still wanting to compete, she moved to Bulgaria and became a citizen in 2000.
