Zoltan was born on December 13, 1953 in Budapest and trained at FTC Ferencvaros with coach Laszlo Vigh.  Magyar's father wanted his son to be a soccer player and was disappointed that his son had taken up gymnastics -- until he won his first world title on pommel horse in 1974.  Magyar went on to defend that title at the 1978 and 1979 world championships.  Today, he's a veterinarian in Budapest.
