Hello there! I am Yvette from Canada, and I am 24 years old. I am a
rhythmic gymnastics coach, judge, and hope someday to be able to join a
masters program! I am currently working at UPS (driver) to keep in shape and
pay the bills! I pursue my gymnastics interests when I have the time and the
money : (   I was a gymnast for 12 years and have been a judge for 9. I am also
pursuing a physical education degree part-time.  My other interests are travel,
music, history, politics - really almost everything! For this reason I admit that
I try to do too many things, so if I don't respond to a message right away,
I'm  Sorry!  I am currently working on a rhythmic gymnastics website- I have
plenty of information compiled but I am always looking for more. So if you are
connected to rhythmic gym. or are just a fan, please contact me!~~Yvette.

Subject: Introduction

         Hi there,

I am Robin, 28, live in the Netherlands at the
moment. I like to follow what is going on in this world. As a
systems designer I am very interested creative moves. Up to
now I have done all kinds of different sports, never getting
the chance to really get into it because of my studies. And
my body is not fit to have a career in sports (not actively
anyway).  At the moment I am doing some fitness and Jiu
Jitsu, also I swim at least a mile per week.  My interests
are very widespread. This means I am always busy. Right now I
am planning a world tour. I have sold my house and given up
my designing job to pack my backpack and travel the face of
this planet called Earth for at least 6 months. Which I find
is rather short, but I don't know yet how far my savings are
going to support me. I am starting my voyage at the end of
September and my main route will be: Iceland, eastcoast USA,
south Canada to westcoast USA, down to L.A., hop over via
French Polonesia to New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia,
         Maleysia, Thailand, (back home?).
So if I am near you maybe I will watch some of you perform,
because I intend to visit gymn-events whenever I get the
chance. Maybe we'll even meet in person. You'll never know.

This all means I am not a gymn-crack and I will lay low in
conversations on this e-mail group, but I will follow what is
going on and sometimes ask some stupid questions....

         Cheers,

         Robin.

Subject: Introduction

Hi- Just wanted to introduce myself as a new member to gymn.  My name is
Emily and I've never been directly involved in gymnastics other than
as a serious fan.  I live in Cooperstown, NY.  I love to watch all
gymnastics, especially women's.  My favorites are Dawes, Strug, and Moceanu.
I am also interested in what J. Thompson and Maiers are doing since I haven't
heard their names in any competitions lately.
I guess I'm supposed to say a little about myself, too.  I'm very involved
in dance (ballet mostly) and I will be a freshman at Princeton in the fall.

Obviously the Japanese take drug use quite seriously, according to the item
below, which was *severely* edited from a Kyodo news summary
.

TOKYO, July 14 (Kyodo) -- The Tokyo District Court on Friday sentenced former
Olympic gymnast Satoko Eto, who is known by her maiden surname Okazaki, to 18
months in prison suspended for three years for using a stimulant.

Eto, 34, injected 0.03 gram of stimulant at an acquaintance's apartment in
Tokyo around April 24, the ruling said.

She participated in the 1976 Montreal Olympics when she was a high school
student.

Subject: Kim Zmeskal

How many of you guys and gals saw the Superstars of Gymnastics last night
on the USA network?  Kim Zmeskal is talking comeback after winning a
bronze in the 1992 Olympics.  She will be 20 when the 1996 Olympics take
place but that's not to say it can't be done.  I know that Kim will have
great company in Dominque Moceaune and Shannon Miller.  On another note,
Svetlana Boginsky is also talking comeback at 22 now but 23 at the
Olmpics next year.  One question:What ever happened to Brandy Johnson?

Subject: Jennie Thompson & Tanya Maiers

Jennie Thompson returned to Karolyi's for a while, and then, returned to
Oklahoma to have surgery on an elbow that she had dislocated earlier. She's
currently at Dynamo. She couldn't compete at the American Classic because of
this, and her next meet (I think) is the US Classic.

Tanya Maiers was doing extremely well dispite a fall from compulsory bars at
Championships last year, and came down with the flu & couldn't compete
optionals. She of course didn't make the national team. She's at Colorado
Aerials, and had surgery on her elbow ( I think) and is looking to make a
comback in time for Atlanta. I personally think that she's a GREAT gymnast
with a great attitude toward life, as I know her, and I wish her well towards
'96, especially since the Games are being held in her home town.

I watched Superstars of Gymnastics, and I was impressed my both Kim &
Svetlana's comback. I was also impressed by Dominique, and she will probably
be one to watch for in '96.

BTW I also heard that Kim is going to twist her double layout, her 3 whip
pass, and her dismount??? Does anyone know this for sure??? And I also heard
that Svetlana was training an Arabian double front on floor????
